The Conservative Mind: From Burke to Eliot

Book review by Deane Barker tags: politics, conservative

I’m giving this five stars just because it’s so comprehensive, and I applaud the detail of the work. But…it’s a lot.

Perhaps read this blog post from Kirk Center:

Ten Conservative Principles

This is the crux of Kirk’s argument. This book is simply a long historical survey of the basis and background for those principles.

It’s a tough read. It assumes a lot of ancillary knowledge about historic people and events. I had to stop reading and research a bunch of stuff in Wikipedia in a futile attempt to keep up.

Still, an admirable work. I shudder to think how long it took to write this.
