Voxel

By Deane Barker

This is the 3D version of a pixel. It’s essentially a point in 3D space, defined by an X, Y, and Z axes.

Why I Looked It Up

In discussing remote work and Zoom calls, a friend tweeted:

On a voice call you can do laundry, cool, change a diaper, scrub a tub, etc. in your procedural memory, all while participating in a conversation. That can be a better experience than a voxel office.

I think she was using “voxel” to mean real-life. Like, a world beyond the 2D of the computer screen.
