Truculent

By Deane Barker

Definition: aggressive; prone to argue or fight

This comes from the Latin “trux” which means “savage.”

Why I Looked It Up

From shogun:

As soon as he could, he had handed his duties over to Naga, and strode off with a pretended truculence down the river bank…

It was used a lot in Shogun. I guess the author liked the word.
