Definition: exceeding the limits of social acceptibility; causing harm by exceeding social norms

This word is more commonly known as “transgressions,” and is represented in a couple of Bible verses:

If you forgive others their transgressions, your heavenly Father will forgive you. […] But if you do not forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your transgressions

The definition reminds me of the phrase Beyond the Pale, though that might be more associated with social, political, or cultural norms.

Why I Looked It Up

I found it in an article about what makes a movie “bad.”

Examining the online keywords associated with negative reviews, we find several hallmarks of transgressive content, such as “gore” or “suicide”…
