Sherd

This is a simple variant of the word “shard,” specifically as in “shards of pottery.” What’s interesting is that this spelling might be preferred in academic usage. From Merriam-Webster:

archaeologists prefer to spell the word sherd when referring to the ancient fragments of pottery they unearth

Why I Looked It Up

I honestly don’t remember the TV show I was watching, but the word was mentioned in the context of “sherds of pottery,” which means whatever show it was used the correct word in the correct context.
