If it’s capitalized, then it refers to followers of Aristotle, since he liked to teach while walking around.

Today, Griffeth views her family’s peripatetic existence differently. Morales always convinced her that God was telling him to move on, but now she thinks he was running away from other alleged victims.

I was 99% sure of this from context, but wanted to double-check.

I assume this means the annual meeting was held in different locations every year.
