This is an industrial plant, used for creating materials. The fiber of the plant can be used to make rope, insulation, and coarse cloth.

The full name is Hibiscus Cannabinus, which is interesting because the plant bears a striking resemblance to marijuana.

Why I Looked It Up

A short story had one of the characters saying:
