Definition: that which is owed from a child to a parent

This refers to a feeling or obligation from a child to their parent. “Filial respect,” for example, is the respect one pays to their parents.

It comes from the Latin words for son or daughter.

Why I Looked It Up

Blackthorne was filled with wonder, and deep filial love, when he thought of Elizabeth. For forty years she’s battled with the world.

The “Elizabeth” in question was the Queen, and Blackthorne was one of her subjects.
