Daimyo

Definition: a feudal Japanese Lord

The literally definition is “large land,” referring to the fact that these Lords were landowners

Why I Looked It Up

Not surprisingly, the term was used a lot in Shogun.

I could have figured it out just from context, but I also remember the term being used in The Book of Boba Fett, the Disney+ sequel to The Mandalorian. It referred to powerful people on the planet Tatooine, but I assume mirrored Feudal Japan in some ways.

A Star Wars wiki entry for that term says:

The Daimyo was the ruler of a territory in the city of Mos Espa – and had nominal authority over the desert planet Tatooine – that was maintained through the allegiance and tribute of vassals, such as government officials and proprietors. The title of Daimyo was held successively by the crime lords Jabba Desilijic Tiure, Bib Fortuna, and Boba Fett.
