On Pencils…
I like pencils. I still take a lot of notes in pencil, in a cheap spiral-bound notebook. I refuse to give it up.
A guy I know went to work for a pencil company. I had never heard of these pencils, but I trusted his judgment, so I went out and bought some.
I have since turned into a pencil snob. From now on, it’s Blackwing 602 or nothing.
- They last forever. I spent $40 for 12 pencils, but I’m still using the first one.
- They write really nice. I can’t explain it, but they’re just velvetly smooth.
- The eraser is wide-tipped.
- They seem to “hold their point” longer than other pencils.
- The eraser is removable. I don’t know why this matters, but when I’m on conference calls, it gives me something to do with my hands.
- The eraser doesn’t seem to deteriorate. It’s still nice and soft and “rubbery.”
- hey come in a cool box. It makes me feel important.
- They’re called “Blackwing,” which is a pretty dope name. If I ever became a superhero, that’s the name I’d pick.
I used to be a Ticonderoga guy, but I have since seen the light.
Blackwing forever.
