Staging

A pre-production environment for either (1) code or (2) content to be reviewed prior to being published to the production environment.

Decoupled CMS often have a separate staging environment to which content is deployed, on which editors can preview. Coupled CMS generally uses a “virtual staging” model whereby content is previewed in the production environment by using version labels.

Code is often deployed to a staging or test environment for review and QA, prior to being moved to production.
