I teach a university course on CMS. One of the assignments has the students compiling a matrix of different systems, and I require that at least one has to be targeted to a specific industry or vertical.
They always manage to find some great ones, in some really niche industries.
- StageCMS, for band websites
- ScientificCMS for “research institutes”
- MEDIAGENIX for TV stations
- alfa Media for newsrooms
- LiveWhale for universities
And this was just from this last course. I enjoy these, because it proves the problems of CMS are transcendent, they just manifest in slight variations.
There are so many wonderful problems to be solved.
