This Is Water: Some Thoughts, Delivered on a Significant Occasion, about Living a Compassionate Life Book review by Deane Barker • October 30, 2021 • tags: philosophy, society • This is simply the text of David Foster Wallace’s famed commencement speech given at Kenyon College a few years before he took his own life. What’s interesting is the format – it’s a tiny book (the speech is fairly short), and each sentence is on it’s own page. Seriously – an entire page is each just one single sentence. It’s a lovely format. Well-suited to the work. A nice meditative way to read the speech. Book Info Author David Foster Wallace Year 2009 Pages 138 Acquired June 18, 2022 I have read this book. According to my records, I completed it on October 30, 2021. A hardcover copy of this book is currently in my home library.
