Metaphors We Live By

Book review by Deane Barker tags: linquistics

I’m not rating this because it wasn’t what I expected, and so I don’t know how to rate it. This is a book for linguists and perhaps psychologists. This is not a book for writers, and this is not a book for laypeople.

This is a very dense, abstract book for people who think very abstractly and deeply about language and how it relates to our mental constructs. I don’t know that I got a huge amount out of it, except to learn how deeply some people have examined the subject of how we talk and how that relates to the way we think.

I am grateful that there are people who do this. I am equally grateful that I am not one of them.
