Good Profit: How Creating Value for Others Built One of the World’s Most Successful Companies
This both a history of Koch Industries and the details of a management philosophy that Charles Koch calls “market based management” (MBM). The book is at its best when he’s explaining some of the history of the company and demonstrating principles via specific examples.
Two drawbacks: (1) Koch Industries is portrayed positively in all cases – he has an excuse for everything, and anything negative is explained again – it comes off as a hero complex; and (2) MBM is just not that advanced. If you’re familiar with other management philosophies like 4DX or EOS, this is really basic stuff.
Not a bad book, but not revolutionary or anything.
