Enterprise Search

Book review by Deane Barker tags: content-management

A good overview of how a large scale enterprise search implementation might go. This is not a technical book, and only gets far into the technical weeds as is absolutely necessary to talk about how search works in general. Considerable time is spent on the larger industry trends and how they might affect a project.

My only complaint is that, in my experience, enterprise search is not a big bang type of project. It tends to be implemented incrementally and grow organically over time. I have to see or be involved with a project where the organization said, “Hey, let’s implement a big search engine from scratch!”
