Shakshouka

This is a Middle Eastern dish consisting of eggs poached in a tomato sauce. The word comes from Arabic for “mixture.”

Why I Looked It Up

In 2023, there was a minor online controversy when a woman posted a TikTok video about how she was 29 and single with no children and she loved her life. Several times in the video, she mentioned a shakshouka recipe she wanted to try.

The video became famous when conservative blogger Matt Walsh commented about how empty the woman’s life must be. Predictable, drama ensued.
