Nimbus

By Deane Barker

Definition: a halo or aura that surrounds dieties when on Earth or when visualized by humans

“Nimbus” means “cloud” in Latin.

Why I Looked It Up

From the book Narrative Economics when discussing the gold standard and the perception of gold in our society:

In Christian tradition, these saints were often among the lowly and despised on society, but the nimbus reveals their true worth.

It goes on to quote Walt Whitman:

But I paint myriad of heads, but paint no head without its
nimbus of gold-colored light
