Magnet School

This is a specialized public school that’s targeted to a specific type of student or course of study, such as math, science, etc. A magnet school “draws in” students from other areas (you know, like a magnet).

Why I Looked It Up

My wife and I were in Nashville, and it seemed like every school had “magnet” in the name. I don’t know why it was so prevalent, unless that’s because were in Nashville proper (rather than the suburbs), and that’s where most of them are located.
