Definition: a short hymn of praise of God

This is a general term to refer to a category of music.

Why I Looked It Up

I remember this from church when I was a child (I don’t think the modern church does much with doxologies anymore).

Then, as an adult, I remember the pastor asking the congregation to sing “the doxology” with him, and he launched into “Praise God from whom all blessings flow…”

This page indicates that is one of the two most common doxologies.
