Atelier
Definition: an artist’s workshop or studio
It’s literally French for “workshop,” which comes from another word meaning “woodpile,” meaning a carpenter’s workspace.
Why I Looked It Up

Earlier this month, Pharrell Williams was in the men’s atelier on the second floor of Louis Vuitton’s corporate office in Paris, sunglasses on, surveying his new perch.

I noticed a book in Barnes and Noble called Houses: Atelier AM. Turns out “Atelier AM” is an interior design firm, and “AM” is the just initials of the two founders.
