This is a fallacy that tries to exclude an opinion or evidence because of claimed lack of “purity.”

Examples

  • Person A: “No Republican would ever support tax increases.”
  • Person B: “[Republican X] supports tax increases.”
  • Person A: “Well, no true Republican would ever support tax increases.”
