Intranet Manager Field Guide

Deane Barker

Avoiding Dangerous Intranet Managers: This is a unintentionally humorous article about how putting the wrong person in charge of a department’s presence on the intranet can ruin things for everyone. And when I say “unintentionally humorous,” it’s only because it’s so true.

I recognized “The Narccissist” above all others.

Narcissists spend the majority of their time on the intranet playing around with its design — looking at color schemes, font styles, and too cool for school visual gimmicks — and not enough time thinking about their content and their users needs.

Just more proof that intranets are less of a technical question and more of an exercise in social and human engineering.
