Intranet case study: Perkins Eastman:A case study of an intranet built “Practice Area Communities” (Communities of Practice?).

The purpose of each Practice Area Community PAC is to enable knowledge sharing between individuals; across project teams, studios, offices, and practice areas; and the entire international organization. The knowledge that is transferred at each of these levels enables Perkins Eastman to evolve into an industry leader.

Another example, really, of social networking on an intranet scale.  How is a community of practice in “Human Resources” any different than a group about whiskey on Facebook?

This case study is ultimately from the Intranet Innovations report from Step Two, which is getting a lot of coverage over the last couple weeks.
