Content Management for Museums

From Issue #53

I love hyper-specific CMSs, and so I enjoyed this one for museums: Argus by Lucidea.

Argus is a flexible web-based collections management system platform for museums and galleries. Argus is built to enhance curation, and to significantly expand outreach and access via the Web, enriching the experience for both in-person and virtual visitors.

It’s a genre called “collection management,” which has been around forever. But it offers tools to extend collections to web-based exhibits.

Museums tend to be budget-challenged, so I wouldn’t want to sell into that market. But in browsing the website and watching some of the videos, I take some comfort that content management problems are universal to industry.
