December 30, 1890
The Indians confused, belligerent after Wounded Knee, the next day burnt houses near the Mission but under Red Cloud’s threat to kill anyone who harmed it, the Mission was untouched. Forsythe with 8 troops 7th Cavalry was surrounded by Indians in the Hills when Major Henry, with squadron 9th Cavalry dispersed them. Lt. Mann, Pvt. Francischetti, 7th Cavalry were killed, several soldiers wounded but Indian casualty slight.
