The Purpose Economy: How Your Desire for Impact, Personal Growth and Community is Changing the World

Book review by Deane Barker

I read every word of this book and I still don’t understand what the author was trying to say. He’s clearly trying to start a movement of some kind – he puts “the purpose economy” up there with “the industrial economy” and “the information economy,” for example – but I can’t figure out for what.

The book is seemingly focused on exalting liberal-leaning millennials. The cynic in me would say that it feeds a certain type of narcissism in that respect.
