Draft
Term applied to a content version which is not yet published, but which contains changes from the published version (if one exists).
The term usually does not refer to content that was published then expired or unpublished, but only to content that an editor expects to be published in the future.
"Discarding" a draft usually means that the version is deleted without being published.
This is usually used as a noun (that is "a draft") or can be an adjective/descriptor ("that item is in draft").
