Shipwreck yields historic riches –$500M worth: I love buried treasure. It invokes unparalleled adventure and romance. How many of the great works of fiction in involve hunting buried treasure.
It’s still alive and well, and these guys might have found the biggest one yet.
Deep-sea explorers said Friday they have mined what could be the richest shipwreck treasure in history, bringing home 17 tons of colonial-era silver and gold coins from an undisclosed site in the Atlantic Ocean.
Estimated value: $500 million.
This reminds of of the book “Ship of Gold in the Deep Blue Sea” — one of the best books I ever read and one I discussed at length over on Gadgetopia.

Are women earning more than men?: Here’s some really fascinating research on the apparently fictional wage gap.
After more than a decade of research for my book, Why Men Earn More, I discovered that men and women make 25 work-life choices that actually create a wage gap. Men make decisions that result in their making more money. On the other hand, women make decisions that earn them better lives (e.g., more family and friend time).
But what happens when women make the same lucrative decisions typically made by men? The good news — for women, at least: Women actually earn more.

To anyone getting stressed over the departure of Melinda Doolittle from American Idol last night, I offer this –
Yes, she was the best singer (by just a hair over Jordin), but every week she proved why she was a background singer: great voice, no personality. I couldn’t believe how someone with such a great voice could be so boring. She has no surface marketability — it’ll take her a while to gather an audience, unlike Blake or Jordin who will hit the ground running.
I truly think that in 30 years, we will look at Melinda like we do Barbra Streisand today — her voice is that good.
But Babs wouldn’t have made it to the AI final either.

I’ve been unfortunately out of shaving cream for a couple days. I finally figured I had to shave, so I put some hand soap in my hand and lathered it up with some water. It worked perfectly, and frankly, even better than shaving cream. It probably helped that the soap had some lotion built into it.
I’ll never buy shaving cream again.
