What Came Before the Big Bang?

Richard Dawkins and Hugh Hewitt Interview : An interesting exchange from a debate between Richard Dawkins and a conservative Christian radio host.

HH: So when you consider before the big bang, what does Richard Dawkins think was there?
RD: I don’t consider the question, because I recognize that it’s an intuitively appealing question. I recognize that I, along with everybody else, wants to ask that question. Then I talk to physicists who say you can no more ask what came before the big bang than you can ask what’s north of the North Pole.

I find this interesting since Dawkins has consistently refused to debate anyone about evolution or creation over the years.

Funny, my answer would have been the same as, though perhaps less eloquent than, what Dawkins said: there can be no meaningful answer.
