Oh, he let the cat out of the bag! Actually, there’s only twelve ‘major’ chords in a scale & in any given song you maybe play 5-6 of them (or their variations) throughout the whole song. (Disclaimer: there’s a whole lot more music theory than that & by me dumbing it down, I do a considerable amount of injust to it.)
It’s amazing how after years and years of music & music composition that people / bands manage not to copy eachother more than they actually do. And that’s not even taking into consideration the limitation of the English language, considering that your lyrics are restricted to using words most people are familiar with in order to reach the maximum amount of people. Of course, Twitter has managed to prove to the world that you can say a lot in just 140 characters.
